Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 30 May 2026

This is a draft policy pending review by our Nigerian counsel. This Acceptable Use Policy governs how you may use the Ratio Africa learn portal and any cohort communication group, including groups we run on Telegram. It applies alongside our Cohort Terms of Service and our Code of Conduct.

01Scope

This policy applies to every participant who accesses the learn portal, joins a cohort group, or otherwise takes part in a Ratio Africa cohort. By using these spaces, you agree to use them lawfully, respectfully, and only for their intended purpose, which is learning together as part of your cohort.

02Expected behaviour

  • Treat facilitators and other participants with courtesy and respect.
  • Keep discussion relevant to the cohort and constructive in tone.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of other participants.
  • Use the materials and recordings for your own learning only.

03Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • harass, bully, threaten, demean, or discriminate against any person;
  • post spam, advertising, recruitment, or unsolicited solicitation of other participants;
  • share, resell, publish, or otherwise distribute paid materials or recordings outside the cohort;
  • scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content, member lists, or contact details;
  • impersonate another person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
  • post unlawful, infringing, malicious, or harmful content, including malware or links to it; or
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the learn portal, other accounts, or our systems.

04Protecting paid materials and recordings

Course materials, slides, and session recordings are provided to you under a personal, non-transferable licence for your own learning, as set out in our Cohort Terms of Service. You must not record, download for redistribution, screen-share, repost, or otherwise share these materials with anyone outside your cohort. This protects the work of facilitators and the value of the cohort for everyone.

05Confidentiality of other participants

Participants often share work in progress, business ideas, and personal context during a cohort. Treat what others share as confidential to the cohort. Do not repeat, publish, or use another participant's confidential information outside the group without their permission.

06Consequences of breach

Where you breach this policy, we may take action proportionate to the breach. Depending on the seriousness, this may include a warning, removal of specific content, temporary suspension of access, or removal from the cohort and its groups. Where you are removed for cause, no refund is due. Serious breaches may also be reported to the relevant authorities where the law requires it.

07Reporting

If you experience or witness a breach of this policy, please report it to connect@ratioafrica.com. Our Code of Conduct sets out how we handle reports and the standards we expect from everyone in the community.
