This is a draft policy pending review by our Nigerian counsel. This Code of Conduct sets the standard of behaviour we expect from everyone who takes part in a Ratio Africa cohort, in live sessions, in the learn portal, and in cohort groups. It works together with our Acceptable Use Policy and our Cohort Terms of Service.
01Our commitment
We want every cohort to be a respectful, safe, and productive place to learn. We are committed to a community that is free from harassment and discrimination, where people can share work, ask questions, and give feedback without fear. This Code applies to everyone equally, including facilitators and the Ratio Africa team.
02Expected behaviour
- Be respectful, considerate, and professional in all interactions.
- Give and receive feedback constructively and in good faith.
- Respect differences of background, identity, experience, and opinion.
- Respect other people's time, attention, and confidentiality.
- Credit the work of others and respect intellectual property.
03Unacceptable behaviour
The following behaviour is not acceptable in any Ratio Africa space:
- harassment, intimidation, bullying, or threats of any kind;
- discrimination or demeaning comments based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic;
- sexual harassment or unwelcome sexual attention;
- spam, advertising, recruitment, or unsolicited solicitation of other participants;
- sharing or claiming the work, materials, or intellectual property of others as your own; and
- any unlawful conduct.
04Live sessions and group chats
In live sessions and group chats, keep contributions on topic, let others speak, and avoid disruptive behaviour. Do not share another participant's contributions outside the group without permission. Facilitators may mute, remove, or moderate content during a session to keep it productive and safe for everyone.
05Intellectual property and confidentiality
Respect the intellectual property of Ratio Africa and of other participants. Do not redistribute paid materials or recordings, and do not repeat confidential information shared by others outside the cohort. The intellectual property terms for cohorts are set out in our Cohort Terms of Service.
06Reporting a concern
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches this Code, please report it to connect@ratioafrica.com. We treat reports seriously and handle them with discretion. We will not penalise anyone for making a good-faith report.
07Enforcement
We respond to breaches proportionately. Depending on the seriousness and the circumstances, our response may follow this ladder:
- a private warning and a request to change the behaviour;
- removal of specific content or a temporary mute or suspension;
- removal from the cohort and its groups; and
- referral to the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
Serious breaches may result in immediate removal without a prior warning. Where you are removed for cause, no refund is due, as set out in our Cohort Terms of Service.
