This is a draft policy pending review by our Nigerian counsel. It explains when and how we refund payments for paid cohorts, workshops, and training sessions booked through ratioafrica.com. It states the same refund schedule as section 7 of our Terms and Conditions and forms part of our Cohort Terms of Service. Where any provision conflicts with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, those laws prevail.
01Scope
This policy applies to paid cohorts, workshops, and other paid training products that you book and pay for through ratioafrica.com. It does not apply to paid consulting engagements, which are governed by a separately signed engagement letter or statement of work.
02Currency and payment
Cohort fees are charged in Nigerian Naira (NGN) at present, and payment is taken through our payment gateway, Paystack. Any refund we issue is returned in Naira to the original payment method, less the deductions described below.
03Cohort and workshop refund schedule
The refund you receive depends on when you cancel relative to the cohort start date:
- More than 14 days before the start date: full refund less a 5% administration fee.
- 7 to 14 days before the start date: 50% refund.
- Less than 7 days before the start date: no refund, but you may transfer your place to a colleague at no charge.
- If we cancel the session, you receive a full refund or the option to transfer to the next available session.
The administration fee and any percentage above are calculated on the cohort fee you paid, before processing fees are considered.
04Payment gateway processing fees
The payment gateway charges a processing fee on each transaction. This processing fee is non-refundable and is borne by you, the participant, consistent with how fees are handled across the platform. When we issue a refund, we refund the applicable portion of the cohort fee under the schedule above, but we do not return the gateway processing fee, because the gateway does not return it to us.
05If we change or cancel a cohort
We may change the schedule, format, or facilitator of a cohort with reasonable notice. Where a change materially affects the value of the cohort for you, we offer a like-for-like reschedule or a refund.
If we cancel a cohort entirely, you receive a full refund of the cohort fee or, if you prefer, a transfer to the next available cohort at no additional charge.
06Transfers to a colleague
A place is reserved for you personally, or for a named delegate, and is not transferable without our prior written consent. Within 7 days of the start date, where a refund is no longer available, you may transfer your place to a colleague at no charge by writing to us in advance with the colleague's details so we can update the registration.
07How to request a refund
To request a refund or a transfer, write to connect@ratioafrica.com with your name, the cohort you registered for, and your payment reference. We aim to acknowledge your request within 5 business days and to process approved refunds to your original payment method within a reasonable period after that. Processing times at the payment gateway and your bank are outside our control.
